ID Badging & Screening

At Waterloo Regional Airport, the ticket counters, restaurant and lounge areas, and public restrooms are located in unsecured areas of the airline passenger terminal. Once past security, there are two unisex restrooms for passenger use.  Find more information about these processes below:

I.D. Badging and Screening

For Waterloo Regional Airport, Waterloo is considered a CAT-IV or Category 4 Airport as determined by the Department of Homeland Security and the Transportation Security Administration for a “Supporting Program,” whereby passenger screening is performed pursuant to Transportation Security Administration Regulation (TSAR) 1544.101(a)(2), (b), or TSAR 1546.101 (b), (c) or (d).

Therefore, Waterloo is in FULL COMPLIANCE with the Department of Homeland Security and TSA Agency, as Waterloo is not required to have a Security Identification Security Display Area (SIDA), and therefore, is not required (at this time) to have a full badge compliant system for issuing Identification Media to Airport and Airline Employees or Tenants, even though it is required locally with I.D. Media to those service employees or business providing service to American Airlines company aircraft, with locally issued badges provided by the City of Waterloo’s Human Resources Department via the Office of the Airport Director.
