Waterloo Hires New Airport Director

Pending council approval, the City of Waterloo has selected Steven Kjergaard to be the new Director of Aviation at the Waterloo Regional Airport.

Kjergaard has nearly 20 years of experience managing smaller airports. Most recently, he was the Airport Director in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho where he led the de

velopment of its Master Plan. Prior, he was the Airport Director in Williston, North Dakota where he recruited multiple airlines to operate and helped secure $265 million in federal, state and local dollars for a relocation project.

“We are pleased to bring Steven Kjergaard in to oversee operations at the Waterloo Regional Airport. His experience and the potential for growth at the facility will be a good combination to lead the airport moving forward,” said Mayor Quentin Hart, City of Waterloo.

Kjergaard has a marketing degree from Minnesota State University with a minor in aviation management.

“I am looking forward and excited for the opportunity to serve the Waterloo Regional Airport and community. It is an honor to continue the work by Keith and the airport community,” said Kjergaard.

He replaces Keith Kaspari, who recently retired after over ten years in the role.
