Parking of Passengers Personally Owned Vehicles (POVs)

The Waterloo Regional Airport employs the TIBA based Automated Parking System. The passenger/parking lot user will approach the ticket dispenser. An automated message will emit a request that the user press the SILVER BUTTON, whereby the parking lot ticket dispenser will dispense a ticket to the parking lot user.

But here is the exiting development of this new Automated Parking system – when entering the lot, the passenger will notice that the ticket displays their vehicle’s license plate information, date, and time of entry, along with a bar code. So, unless the passenger’s license plate is obscured (i.e. due to snow, dirt, or equipment such as a tow-hitch), the parking ticket should display the License Plate Number or Characters of the plate, as the License Plate Recognition (LPR) system takes a picture of the License Plate before dispensing the ticket.

Upon return from a fabulous trip on American Airlines, and as passengers and parking lot users prepare to exit the parking lot, vehicles with unobstructed license plates will be recognized automatically by the LPR system in the exit lane. It will then calculate how much is owed. Once paid, a receipt is automatically generated for your trip report.

Unlike many airports, passengers receive their first three hours of parking free of charge in the event the arriving or departing aircraft is delayed. In contrast, other airports may only offer 20 or 30 minutes. Our passengers are then charged $1.00 per hour – but only up to a maximum daily rate of $6.00. For extended stays, the maximum weekly rate is only $42.00.

The left (East) exit lane only accepts Credit & Debit cards, while the right (West) exit lane accepts Debit Cards, Credit Cards and Cash.
