Airport Board

The Waterloo Regional Airport (ALO) is a non-hub, primary commercial service airport serving Waterloo-Cedar Falls and a ten-county market area that has a Metropolitan Service Area (MSA) of 162,435. American Airlines provides daily round-trip service to Chicago for connecting flights to over 700 cities worldwide.

Waterloo Regional Airport has an Air Traffic Control Tower (ATCT) and General Aviation (GA) facilities, including hangar rentals and a full-service Fixed Base Operator (FBO), Livingston Aviation.

An Airport Advisory Board consisting of seven members, who are appointed by the Mayor of Waterloo and approved by the Waterloo City Council, oversees the Waterloo Regional Airport. The Airport Board works closely with Airport Administration and recommends policies and actions to the City Council.

The Airport has approximately 110 based aircraft and 25,000 annual aircraft operations.

The Waterloo Regional Airport is supporting the following economic benefits:

  • $64.3 million in annual economic activity or output

The Airport has an annual operating budget of $1,000,000+ and a 5-year capital budget of $22 million. The Airport is self-sufficient (cash basis) and funds its capital projects primarily through Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) grants matched with Passenger Facility Charge (PFC) funds.

The Airport is open from 7 a.m. until at least an hour after the last flight of the day, 7 days a week. The ATCT is open daily from 6 a.m. local – 8:00 p.m. local. Airport operations personnel are on field from 6:00 a.m. – 10:00 p.m. Tours can be scheduled by calling Livingston Aviation.
